Why Saint Peter the Apostle School is fundraising for clean water

WISHING for WELLS

The sixth grade students at St. Peter the Apostle School have decided to help communities with unsanitary water. We learned this year that 800 million people around the world don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water. Charity: Water is an organization that builds wells for these communities. We would like to raise $10,000 in order to serve 500 people in Africa.

It takes up to eighteen months for Charity: Water to build a well after we raise the money.Knowing we will be able to see this well project complete just before our Confirmation had a big effect on our decision. Also, knowing we were going to help save the lives of children in a different country led us to decide for this charity even more. Also, we know we are helping Jesus because in the Bible it says, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink…. As you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me" (Mt 25:40).

What's really cool about Charity: Water is that 100% of the money we raise will help build a well in a community, and they'll prove every single dollar you donate. When the well project is complete, they'll send us a report with GPS coordinates and photos of the community we helped. Here's an example of the report (http://www.charitywater.org/projects/d2p/).

$10,000 is a lot! We are not going to be able to raise the money by ourselves. Just the smallest amount of money you donate will have a big effect. $20 can provide clean water for one person. So give a donation and help save a life, because together we can make a difference.
You can donate online at http://mycharitywater.org/wishing-for-wells.

P.S. Read this story (http://www.charitywater.org/projects/fromthefield/rwanda.php) from Charity: Water to learn how clean water changes lives.
