My Mission:

Clean water in the states is so abundant that when we drink, we don’t consider how easily accessible it really is. But in 3rd world countries - especially those in Africa - clean water is a luxury (sort of, it's just really difficult to get). I am using the money raised from this project to sponsor the building of a well in Africa - a place where clean water is needed most. My goal, and the goal of this project is to provide a clean, replenishable, and easily accessible water source, by building a well that will serve more than a thousand people for years to come! I hope you choose to join me in my mission!

Story:

It started in early 2012 with a senior service project. I partnered with one of my mentors and created the rough idea of marketing reusable water bottles, where the proceeds would go to fund water projects in 3rd world countries. Initially, the bottles would be marketed online, and any proceeds would be donated to a clean water campaign. But as with most projects: things change along the way. The same happened with Drink Well: instead of just using any proceeds as a donation, I decided to take the idea one step further by making it my goal to build a well by raising $5000. Also, instead of selling bottles online, waiting for funds to come in random intervals, and not being able to manage profits efficiently, I turned to local Springfield, IL businesses to help market the water bottles. By doing this, my hometown community is involved and in-turn, opens the door for more donations (= greater chance of success)! Another change was the addition of apparel, wall decals, and stickers to put on other reusable water bottles, all to help spread the story of “Drink Well” and its mission.

Donations:

Donations to my campaign are more than greatly appreciated, they are rewarded. By donating you will receive a tax deduction, a handwritten thank you from me, and project updates in the form of multimedia from charity:water, as well as documented updates in nice folders delivered straight to your door, which will inform you of how the building of the well is progressing.

About Charity:Water:

Charity: Water is a small organization dedicated to solving the water crisis - in fact, it is their mission. But Charity: Water is unlike most other charities; 100% of the money donated to the water crisis, goes to building wells, sustaining water sources, and ultimately accomplishing their mission. Charity: Water only operates on donations specified for their operating costs. In other words: every penny donated goes directly to building the well, so you can be sure no cut will be taken undisclosed. So far, Charity: Water has funded 6,185 water projects in 19 countries, benefiting over 2,545,000 people. Overall, the organization has raised over forty million dollars, however they still vow to not stop operating until every human has access to clean water.

The Name:

The title, Drink Well, was chosen for several reasons; mainly for its versatility as a play on words. The first of its meanings is simply “drink well”, as in drink healthily. The second refers to a drinking well - the type which will be built in Africa with the funds raised from this project! The third is the ability for the word “water” - in the water drop logo - to turn the term “Drink Well” into a phrase: “Drink Well Water” (you can see it in action at the top of this page)!

I hope you choose to donate to my campaign and help me achieve my goal!

Thank YOU
