My husband convinced me to attempt a triathlon with him. God whispered it would be used for His purposes and He led me to Charity:Water.

In our culture, it is hard to imagine life without clean, safe water at our disposal. For most of us, we only have to turn on the tap. In the comfort our own homes.

Yet more than 1 BILLION (1 BILLION!!!) people on Earth do not have access to an improved drinking source of water (statistic from the World Health Organization). And billions more hours are spent, mostly by women and children, walking to get water that will make them sick and leave them vulnerable to other forms of oppression.

On August 7, 2011, I will SWIM as a reminder that the lake water I compete in is probably a safer drinking water source than most people have access to. I will BIKE as a prayer to set the wheels in motion to give everyone access to safe water. I will RUN in remembrance of what women and children have to go through each day to bring water to their families.
