I took this photo above in Northwest Vietnam about two months ago on vacation with my wife, Sara. This girl's job was to find water for her family. I don't think I need to say much more than that - to abuse an old cliche, a picture really is worth a thousand words.

I have given up Christmas this year, and also during this 90 day period, I'll pass my 39th birthday, which I also plan to give up for this well.

Otherwise, the statistics speak for themselves, and should be a wake up call for anyone reading (from charity:water stats):

-4,500 children die each DAY due to lack of access to clean, healthy water.

- An average woman in Sub-Saharan Africa spends 15 hours each week just collecting water - that will more than likely make her and her children sick

- More children die every year because they don't have access to clean drinking water, than do from all wars combined.

We've also traveled extensively throughout the African continent, and have seen personally the toll this takes on people. It's a heart wrenching sight to see, when the solution is so within grasp.

It's amazing how far such a little donation can go. $20 can provide clean water to one person for 20 years!
